KJ Apa Says An Archie-Betty-Veronica Love Triangle Will Be Revisited on Riverdale

As if Riverdale doesn’t have enough issues already, like murders, gang violence and suicides, KJ Apa just dropped a love triangle truth bomb on us that’s sure to cause triple the drama.
Hate to break it to you Archie, but you can’t have your cake and eat it too.
Just when Riverdale fans were totally on board with this whole Varchie ship, we were thrown a major curve ball when KJ Apa admitted that a love triangle would be revisited many times throughout the show.
Ok, so it’s not completely Archie’s fault – he’s currently dealing with his father being shot, his ex-lover being murdered all while still trying to find himself, so it’s inevitable he’ll be seeking sympathy from the two closest people in his life – his girlfriend Veronica and his best friend Betty.
KJ sat down with The Last Magazine, where he opened up more about the Archie-Betty-Veronica love triangle, saying QUOTE, “It’s a fundamental part of the Archie universe and I don’t think that’s ever going to be lost on our show. I think we’ll definitely revisit it a few times.”
Although Archie is currently dating Veronica and the two seem like they’re on great terms, KJ added, “I think it’s more interesting how we portray that love triangle than how the comics do because we get the details of everything. We know why one person isn’t with another person because of what happened in this episode.”
It's no question there’s plenty of history between Archie and Betty, and we all know Betty wanted to be with him at the start of the series until she began dating Jughead. However, Archie did promise we’ll get to see even more of a backstory behind their relationship in the seasons to come, saying, “There’s a lot of history behind it and it’s going to become more interesting in the following seasons because the longer we go, the more history there is and the more important that love triangle is going to become.”
I don’t even know what that’s supposed to mean, but all I know is that if this love triangle means jeopardizing the fan-favorite ship that is BUGHEAD, I’m taking it upon myself to dub Riverdale CANCELLED. Ok I wouldn’t take it that far, but we’ll just have to wait to see what happens with the couples, as if we don’t already have enough to worry about…
