So here’s a helpful tip to anyone about to throw shade toward Gaga’s way: The next time you attempt a public diss at Mother Monster, well, just don’t.
Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart, AKA the dynamic duo that makes up The Chainsmokers, got a slight taste of their own medicine just yesterday when Lady Gaga sent a tweet that had the entire Twittersphere unanimously hashtagging #GagaEndedTheChainsmokersParty.
So if you’re completely unaware as to what exactly fired Mother Monster up, the DJing duo recently spoke out to Rolling Stone about their distaste for her new single “Perfect Illusion”, saying that they thought “it sucks”.
Gaga clearly got word of their response, and with as much class as the Queen of England, suggested another song from her upcoming album Joanne that the pair may find more appealing. In enters a new track that has yet to be released, called “A-Yo”, conveniently centering around seeking revenge and coming back stronger than ever before. And I gotta admit, this one is catchy as hell.
FEEL. THAT. BURN. Along with the killer new song, Gaga directed a tweet right at The Chainsmokers that read QUOTE, “#AYO @TheChainsmokers maybe u guys'll like this 1 better #NowPlaying”. Clearly, after a tweet like that, there’s not much one can say to rebuttal, so the pair responded back with a simple tweet, saying, “Haha @ladygaga RESPECT”…and ‘respect’ is probably the only thing they’ll be hashing out from here on out.
The dig got the attention of what seems like the entire Twittersphere, along with many of Gaga’s biggest supporters including Halsey, who, might I add, collaborated with The Chainsmokers on their hit single “Closer”. Halsey tweeted in support of Gaga, saying QUOTE, “Lady Gaga is an icon and forever one of my greatest idols. I can't wait to see where her new era takes us. #JOANNE”.
Gaga also got word of Halsey’s tweet, and immediately retweeted AND responded, writing, “@halsey Hey Girl! We can make it easy if we lift each other! thanks for the shoutout! #AYO” and CUE the fangirl freakout. Halsey then wrote back, saying, “@ladygaga I'm freaking out!!! Thank you for being such an unprecedented artist. You gave me the courage to be myself”, and she even took to Snapchat to express her admiration even further.
Things seemed all fine and dandy following Halsey’s tweet until Drew Taggart reportedly tweeted to Halsey, “fuck you bald bitch”. However, he took to Twitter shortly after claiming that he was hacked, but at that point, Halsey had already given him the good ol’ ‘unfollow’.
So either this was all just an unfortunate situation or there’s one giant Twitter feud going on right before our eyes, but right now, I’m curious to know all your thoughts on Gaga’s epic clap back and on this whole potential Halsey & Gaga vs. Chainsmokers feud, so get to talking right down here in the comments.
