At this point, we can probably all agree that the United States is a very ~-interesting place to be right now, especially in terms of politics. And by “interesting,” we mean absolutely terrifying. That being said, it seems like every single day we hear about another unfair immigration policy, horrible hate crime, or sadly, a deadly mass shooting.
Even with all of the tragic things happening in the U.S. right now, people still seem to care a lot about other, less important things, like Nicki Minaj’s ongoing feud with Cardi B, for example. Well, some politically active celebrities have had it up to here with people paying more attention to celebrity feuds than political issues, and Lauren Jauregui is definitely one of them.
After several days of back-to-back heartbreaking news reports throughout the country, including the deadly shooting at a Synagogue in Pittsburgh and the bombs sent to notable Democrats, Lauren felt it necessary to slam those who are paying more attention to the drama between the rappers than they are to the devastation that’s happening all around us.
She tweeted, QUOTE, “I wish America cared as much about domestic terrorist attacks as they did about women fighting one another. I wish they had the same amount of energy they save to egg on drama & take that anger to the F*CKING polls to make sure people STOP DYING at the hands of White SUPREMACISTS.”
Lauren didn’t stop there, though. She went on to say, QUOTE, “This country is completely BROKEN. divided into 3 categories. Alt-right fascist/terrorists who continue to get braver and are willing to incite a civil war, liberals who are fighting for radical shifts in the systems that have kept Alt-right in power, and then apathetic watchers.”
Not gonna lie, we totally understand her frustration, and although she slammed a lot of people for paying attention to Cardi and Nicki’s feud, there are actually a ton of fans who completely agree with her and who can’t wait to get out there and vote— us included.
One fan wrote, QUOTE, “We care more about senseless drama than people dying for their religion/color of their skin and it’s sickening,” with another fan adding, QUOTE, “Drag them Lauren, you’re absolutely right.”
Someone else also responded by saying, QUOTE, “I wish they put more energy into elections than into Twitter beef.” Now wouldn’t that just be amazing?!
Clearly, there are lots of people who stand with Laur, and honestly, we’re SO glad she’s using her platform to inspire others to vote and make their voices heard.
Anyway, what do you guys think about Lauren’s passionate tweets about putting more energy into politics than celebrity drama?
