Lili Reinhart SHUTS DOWN Barchie Relationship Possibilities On Riverdale

Betty Cooper may have been lusting after Archie Andrews when Riverdale premiered, but Lili Reinhart says that relationship is totally in the past and is SO not gonna happen any time soon.
Lili recently chatted with TVLine.com about the future of Betty and Archie as a couple and completely killed Barchie shippers’ dreams in the process.
She said QUOTE “I don’t think Betty has feelings for Archie anymore. I think that’s over and done with. She’s in love with Jughead, and is happy being with him.”
So what about the infamous romantic gaze Archie gave Betty during Riverdale’s season one finale? Is Lili trying to tell us that meant absolutely NOTHING?! Well, maybe not for one of the characters…
Lili explained that while Betty no longer looks at Archie as anything more than a friend, he perhaps still could have some sort of feelings for her. She said QUOTE “[It’s about] wanting something that you can’t have… I definitely think Archie has some commitment issues. He has a wandering eye, you know?”
Lili continued by saying Betty and Archie have QUOTE “a deep love, I just don’t necessarily think it’s romantic.”
Barchie shippers – are you guys doing okay? We know you’re probably a little bit heartbroken at this point, but it’s going to be alright. And for all you Bughead shippers out there, you should probably get ready to celebrate! KJ Apa previously said the love triangle between Betty Veronica and Archie will be revisited on season 2, but Lili confirms that Betty and Jughead will remain a QUOTE “solid duo” throughout all the drama.
If you’re surprised that Bughead will continue going strong in the upcoming episodes, let us just remind you how Betty literally blackmailed Cheryl Blossom in order to defend Jughead’s dad on last week’s episode.
Lili explained the iconic scene by saying QUOTE “[She] did what she had to do for her man, you know? I think Betty’s willing to put herself out on a limb, and put herself in some uncomfortable situations, in order to show her support for him.”
