Lucy Hale Opens Up About Sexual Assault Experience After Cryptic Tweet

It all started last week when Lucy revealed that she had experienced sexual assault in a cryptic post on Twitter and Instagram reading, “I never understood sexual assault until tonight. I always sympathized, but I never felt the pain of it until right now. My dignity and pride was broken. I am completely at a loss of words.” Lucy added that she’s going to use her experience to help others saying, “I will not let a moment go by that I don’t try to make a difference.”
Lucy didn’t explain the assault situation further, and has since deleted both her social media posts. Buuut Lucy caught up with US Weekly last night and vaguely expanded on her experience saying QUOTE, “I think along with a lot of other people we’ve all had our experiences like that and until it’s happened to you, you kind of don’t really understand how it can affect you and everyone around you and I just feel honored to be around a lot of powerful women that are speaking up about it.”
Seems like Lucy is deflecting a bit and you can tell she doesn’t want to get TOO personal about her experience. So when US asked Lucy if it was hard to come forward with HER story we were surprised that Lucy admitted, “No, because I think anytime I talk about something it comes from a real place of truth and comes straight from the heart.” This inspiring statement proves she’s not afraid to talk about it.
Despite the experience she had, Lucy was optimistic about the future adding QUOTE, “You know, you see the change happening it’s really an exciting time even though it started from dark times for people, I think the pay off will be extraordinary.” It looks like Lucy is standing by her word and trying to make a difference any way she can.
