Country music’s biggest names once again proved tonight that the power of music is a force to be reckoned with.
In the blink of an eye just four months ago, millions of lives were changed after many were too-quickly taken after a gunman opened fire from a Las Vegas hotel into the Route 91 Harvest Festival just as country music star Jason Aldean was halfway into his headlining set.
Many of country music’s biggest names dedicated songs, made generous donations and most importantly, came together with the power of music to prove that hate will never win, and tonight’s Grammy Awards were no exception. Maren Morris, Eric Church and country music duo, Brothers Osbourne, whom all played during Route 91, led a beautiful tribute to the victims of the Vegas shooting, performing Eric Clapton’s hit “Tears in Heaven”.
The four perfectly synced their harmonies in a somber stripped-down performance including a memorial of the names of each of the 58 victims illuminated behind them on paper lanterns. And not only was this performance a tribute for the victims of the Vegas shooting, but also the 22 victims who lost their lives in Manchester following an Ariana Grande concert.
Following the Vegas tragedy, Eric Church dedicated a song of his own called “Why Not Me” to the victims, and Maren Morris also wrote a song called “Dear Hate” to which she revealed QUOTE, “The song is really not partisan, it’s just about bringing love and kindness to the world.”
Needless to say, this tragedy will forever lay heavy on the hearts of millions, but if the music industry has proved one thing time and time again, it’s that the power of music will never die, and only make us stronger in the end. So right now I gotta know all your thoughts on tonight’s Grammy tribute, so get the conversation going down here in the comments, and after that, be sure to click right over here to see yet another emotional tribute courtesy of Mother Monster AKA Lady Gaga.
