Paying homage to David Bowie is no easy task, and Lady Gaga more than rose to the occasion.
With no shortage of flash, sass and killer vocals Lady Gaga is a worthy artist to tribute the late David Bowie. At the 58th annual Grammys Bowie collaborator Nile Rodgers led the band who performed a medley of his hits sung by Gaga. 9 hits in 6 minutes to be exact, starting with a projector enhanced performance of “Space Oddity” complete with a spider, here’s a peek.
From there an orange haired Gaga changed out of her white asian inspired cape into a pink and white feather boa and jumpsuit while singing “Changes”. She transitioned to “Ziggy Stardust” and “Suffragette City” at a futuristic hydraulic piano where Gaga totally jammed out on the keys. Then Mother Monster ditched the feathers singing “Rebel Rebel” where cloned images and doves appeared on the screen behind her. She belted out Bowie’s hits “Fashion” and “Fame” with choreographed dance moves and orange jumpsuit backup dancers. Gaga continued with a few bars of “Under Pressure” and “Let’s Dance”. Finally she rocked out with Nile Rodgers on the guitar to song “Heroes” to end the epic, epic tribute. The performance reminds viewers just how many legendary songs Bowie had. Not shockingly Gaga received a standing ovation for the vibrant medley performance, one of the best of the night for sure. During the weekend, in honor of the late Bowie Gaga got a tattoo of his face on the side of her stomach. No doubt he had a huge impact on Gaga musically and on her career, namely her “The Fame” album. Finally it’s your favorite time- your turn! Tell me if you thought Lady Gaga did a good job tributing the iconic David Bowie’s career. Leave a comment below and tweet me your thoughts @mistykingma. Then be sure to check out the best and worst dressed from the Grammys red carpet. I’m Misty Kingma I’ll see you soon you better believe it.
