Street food is synonymous with Mumbai. It’s literally everywhere and the street food culture thrives. From chaat (savoury snacks) to more substantial meals like the ones featured in this video pav bhaji and the Bombay street sandwich to the ubiquitous national drink of masala chai, both vegetarians and meat lovers alike will have a ball discovering all of the delicious street food Mumbai has to offer.

What we ate and where we ate it:

Pav Bhaji at Khau Galli (snack street/lane) off Homji Street, Kala Ghoda, Fort, Mumbai (opposite Kashmiri Emporium). Open lunchtimes.

Bombay Sandwich at Sanjay Singh Sandwichwallah, Kala Ghoda on the main road before the square, Fort, Mumbai. Open 9:00am to 9:30pm.

Chole Samosa at Hotel Gurukripa, 40, Guru Kripa Building, Near Sies College, Sion West, Mumbai. Open 9:00am to 11:00pm.

Falooda at Baba Falooda, Wanjawadi, Mahim West, Mahim, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400016. Open 1:00pm to 1:45am except for Sunday 2:30pm to midnight.

Vada Pav at Ashok Vada Pav, Kashinath Dhuru Marg, Dadar, Mumbai (near Kriti College, Dadar). 11am to 9:30pm.

Masala chai at chai stall next to Ashok Vada Pav.
