Nikita Dragun DEFENDS Controversial VMAs Look With Powerful Message

Alright guys, it’s time we make a case for Nikita Dragun. Not that she needs ANYONE to stand up for her, but she made a lot of noise on the VMA red carpet and I gotta throw in my two cents

What’s up guys it’s Emile Ennis Jr here with Clevver News and Nikita probably knew she was going to turn heads at the VMAs no matter what she did

But when she showed up like this, people really paid attention!
She posted about it on social media, making a joke “hiring one boyfriend didn’t exactly work out the first time … so this time I hired 3”
Unsurprisingly, she got some backlash for showing up with three men on leashes

Like this person who said “Any time I see something like this I have to think “if the roles were switched, would I be okay with it?” And if the answer is no, then I cannot and will not get behind it”
or “If a male did this there would be mass outrage. Keep the same energy”
To which Nikita had something to say. She clapped back on Twitter writing: “reverse sexism? sexism is prejudice + power. men are the dominant gender with power in society. my VMAs outfit was a statement on me as a woman taking that power. might i add with consenting paid male models. help me understand how i’m sexist towards men? make it make sense.”
In a similar Instagram caption, she mimics her haters, saying “why is she at the VMAs” because i’m a bad bitch that’s why.”
And you know what? She’s damn right

Because unlike some of the other people who walked the carpet, she took a risk and did something memorable AND meaningful – while still having a lot of fun
And yes, the guys had fun too, because this is honestly nothing new.
Snoop Dogg did it at the VMAs in 2003
Poppy did it last year with these guys in full fetish wear
Even Rihanna did it in her S&M video
Which is why people like this commented “I just thought it was based off of a kink”
Because stuff like this or “puppy play” is something people enjoy – especially in the LGBT community

If you go to The Castro District in San Francisco on any given week you’ll see someone on a leash
OR wearing a padlock, which is a symbolic way to show what you’re into
And from the look of two of Nikita’s models, who are boyfriends in real life, Wearing a padlock is something they do on a normal day.
So I wouldn’t necessarily say any of these men were actually being degraded by Miss Dragun
Because they all certainly were happy to do this!
And they had a choice in taking the gig
And according to the comments, it seems like it’s mostly cisgender straight people who are upset.

Some of Nikita’s famous friends in the LGBT community stood up for her decision

Like Louie, who said “Yess dragun – so good”
Or Daniel Preda “your most iconic stunt yet”
