Wipe those tears away, Bach Nation, because fan-favorite Bachelor contestant Peter Kraus is officially returning to the Bachelor franchise, and this time around, he’s in it to win it.
So forget figure skating, bobsledding, and all those other winter games, because the only game that really matters this season is the game of love.
Bachelor Nation suffered not one, but TWO tragic losses this year, the night Peter Kraus decided to part ways with Rachel Lindsay, and again when he was NOT announced as this season’s newest Bachelor, but we’ve got some good news, fam!
It has been confirmed that Peter will be making his return to TV screens all over the country for the franchise’s debut challenge show: The Bachelor Winter Games to compete alongside other Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants in a series of winter sports and activities held at a luxury resort in Vermont where they'll compete in winter-themed athletic challenges, along with the one game this fandom knows all too well: finding love. Just think of it as a Bachelor Pad meets the Winter Olympics.
The news was confirmed via Twitter when franchise creator Mike Fleiss penned a series of tweets, stating QUOTE, “I will be making a major announcement regarding #TheBachelorin the next couple hours!!!!!” followed by, “Yes, Peter will be looking for love-- and going for the gold-- on #TheBachelor Winter Games!!!!”
Disappointment set in a few months back when Arie Luyendyk was announced as this season’s new bachelor, and NOT Peter, however, sources close to production told People Magazine that Peter was “never” the network’s first choice given that he wasn’t comfortable with the premise that lies at the very core of the ABC reality show: that it’s supposed to end with a proposal.
On that note, many fans have had mixed opinions surrounding Peter’s return to the franchise, but although some are still wary about the fact that if a few months isn’t enough time to pop the question, then why is he signing up in the first place, 9 out of 10 reactions have been praising producers for re-casting him.
One Twitter user wrote, “Still not okay with the fact that he wasn't made the bachelor but I'll probably watch - only for him,” and many others (myself included) are just wondering how one goes about signing up for the winter games.”
No other contestants have been named at this time, however Fleiss DID quote a tweet hinting that there may be contestants competing from abroad, saying QUOTE, “Plus, sexy international Bachelors and Bachelorettes from the dozens of countries that also produce #TheBachelor…”
The Winter Games airs in February of 2018, so start prepping those Bachelor viewing parties, brackets, and bottles of wine ASAP. Right now, I want to know all your thoughts on Peter returning for the winter games – do you think it’s a good idea, or is it bound to end in heartbreak once again?
