Pink Overcomes Flu for National Anthem Super Bowl 52 Performance

In case you missed it, Pink arrived to the game with a grey and white outfit, singing a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem, even bringing the audience to a standing ovation. What much of the audience DIDN’T know is that this amazing singer was battling a nasty flu, even losing her voice THE DAY before this huge performance.

She posted a photo yesterday on instagram in the empty stadium saying that she was trying to “practice the flu away.” You fall in love with her even more when she explains her predicament. Pink says QUOTE- “I’ve been waiting to sing this song since 1991 when I saw my idol, Whitney Houston, own this song. And now, my chance has finally come. And it just so happens that this chance comes when I have two small Petri dish kids who literally cough INTO MY MOUTH and rub their snot on my cheek. You can’t write this stuff I swear!”
It’s like watching a movie where you don’t know if the lead is gonna pull through, but you get like really emotionally invested and you’re on the edge of your seat. Of course, now we know that Pink absolutely killed it, but she definitely had us worried.
Pink is a true warrior, starting this year off on a great note after being nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance for her hit What About us, and she spills the tea about an upcoming tour and QUOTE- “some other stuff that’s a secret still and I can’t wait till it’s not a secret.”
