2017 may not have been “the year” for some, but let it be known that Selena Gomez has taken it, and made it her… you-know-what, and she ain’t about to slow down any time soon. Following Sel’s kidney transplant earlier this year, she’s clearly been wasting no time in spending her days with loved ones, and more recently even doing the things she loves... like creating new music, for instance.
According to her latest Instagram post, Sel is back in the studio hard at work on her next album, and relayed to fans that if you need her, the studio is where to find her. She captioned the photo QUOTE, “Currently. Until next year. Here’s where I’ll be” and I know, I know, a picture is supposed to be worth a thousand words, but it was her recent interview with BBC Radio’s Nick Grimshaw during his morning Breakfast Show that seemed to do all the talking.
As for what style to expect? Put it this way – if you’ve ever been on a roller coaster that’s literally thrown you for a loop, just think of her new music like each loop you’ve ever been pleasantly surprised by. Plus, if her most recent singles, “Wolves”, “It Ain’t Me” and “Fetish” are any indication, we’re in pretty good hands, my friends. She said QUOTE, “It’s exciting to be in a place where I love surprising people and creating new areas of music I can explore. And I’ll get to be present, you know? I was taking some time off for my health and it was good, but now I get to be here.”
But if you think she may be overwhelming herself after the year she’s had, well, it’s quite the opposite. Sel previously admitted that she’s never felt better, saying, “I’m really proud of where I am right now. I handle things in a healthy way. I can enjoy where I’m at. I love being able to say “no.” People are so terrified of other people. I see it in my generation a lot. There’s so much anxiety and angst, and the pressure just keeps getting worse. [But] I’m proudest of not becoming jaded.”
A strong end to one year can only lead to an even stronger beginning of the next, so we can’t wait to see what Selena has in store for 2018, but right now I gotta know all your thoughts on Sel’s new album and all that studio time, so get to talking down here in the comments, and as always, be sure to hit that subscribe button.
