Uh oh, Selena Gomez had to cancel a few of her tour dates in China and you won’t believe the reason behind her cancellations.
Selena’s faithful fans in China will probably never get to see their favorite star perform live and it’s reportedly because of this scandalous picture she shared a couple years ago.
Who knew such an endearing photo with the Dalai Lama would cause such a controversy for the young actress? Apparently weeks after Selena announced she’s be hitting up two cities in China on her Revival tour in August, the singer and her team quietly pulled those concert dates from her website. According to multiple reports, authorities in China allegedly blocked Selena from performing or even entering the country because of a picture of Selena meeting the Dalai Lama back in 2014.
However, Selena shouldn’t be too bummed out about this move. She definitely isn’t the first person to be blocked from setting foot into the country because of her meeting with the Dalai Lama. Maroon 5’s concerts were reportedly cancelled last year because of an interaction with the spiritual leader and Bon Jovi isn’t allowed in the country either. It’s safe to say that China don’t play.
While Selena is missing out on performing for her fans in China, she is reportedly being eyed for a role in the supposed ‘Men In Black’ and ’23 Jump Street’ crossover film. Hey, you win some you lose some, right? According to HollywoodLife’s insider, Sony is keeping close tabs on how the all-female ‘Ghostbusters’ film ends up doing in the box office and if all goes well for the movie, there will be a potential female duo in the future of the Men In Black franchise.
The insider revealed that if a “Women In Black” film gets the greenlight, Selena will definitely be one of the top choices. They said QUOTE, “Selena Gomez would be one of the young female talents to have the chance to get the role. James Bobin has directed her briefly in ‘The Muppets’ and really liked her and would love to work with her again. So, if all the puzzle pieces land in place, this could end up being the biggest role of Selena’s career. So now nature and a little luck has to take its course.”
