Selena Gomez Hits First #1 On Billboard Hot 100 Chart!

A huge congratulations is in order for Selena Gomez! The singer has scored her very first number one hit with “Lose You To Love Me” on the Billboard Hot 100!
What’s up you guys, It’s Sussan Mourad here with Clevver News and all I have to say is…. It’s about time! “Lose You To Love Me” definitely struck a chord with fans and critics and now Selena is basking in the sweet glory of success!
Obviously, Selena is over the moon after “Lose You To Love Me” hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The 27-year-old singer went straight to instagram to share her reaction.
“My first number 1!! This song is so dear to my heart. I’ve been working so hard to make this album as honest and fun as possible while remaining vulnerable enough to share where I am in life. I love you deeply and thank you so much for listening. I want to thank each and every person that was apart of this moment that I’ll never forget!”
Her co-writers for the tune, Julia Michaels and Justin Tranter also sent their love on social media.
Julia wrote: OMG I’M SOBBING
And Justin shared: To get to make honest music with people I love is already the dream. To have that music go number 1 is full on insanity.
And, of course, Selena shared love for her longtime collaborators too writing on instagram stories:
“My soulmates who changed my life since Good For You came out. I love you so much. Thank you!”
Oh, and she shared this adorable video of her cousin’s students in Texas:
So cute, right?? And just when you thought the singer was at the top of her game, “Lose You To Love Me” made history!
Selena is now the first and only artist to ever hold the number one spot on the Billboard Top 100 chart AND the Rolling Stone 100 chart at the same time!
Not to mention… “Lose you To Love Me” has also reached number one on the Billboard Digital Song Sales chart AND the Billboard Streaming Song chart.
OK WOW. Now THAT deserves an extra round of applause!
Selena is clearly thrilled about the success of “Lose You To Love Me” but she’s also been very open about the difficult road that led her to writing and releasing the song.
*Ahem* her relationship with Justin Bieber.
In an interview with 103.5 KTU last week, Sel revealed she went back and forth on whether to be THAT vulnerable in her new music.
But ultimately, she decided that despite the inevitable drama the song would cause — you guys KNOW, we’ve talked about it — Selena needed to speak her truth on the situation.
AMEN.
So… what DID Justin think about the success of the song? I mean… truthfully, it can’t be all that fun to have this type of heart wrenching music about YOU be so popular.
While the newly wed singer didn’t say anything directly, many Selenators pointed to this instagram post, added a mere minutes after Selena’s number 1 news broke.
The Beebs wrote: “took a road trip by myself to pray, think reflect.. time to get back to WIFEY”
And LOTS of heart eye emojis.
Ah yes, the wifey… Aka, Hailey Bieber. She didn’t come right out and say anything about the song’s success either. But she DID post this cryptic message on her instagram story.
“You’re hoping i fall down, I’m praying you get on your feet. We are not the same.”
Yeah… fans are having quite the time trying to decipher the meanings behind these two, well timed posts…
But honestly, most Selenators aren’t too concerned over the drama: they’re just happy for their favorite artist! And you know they took the excitement to social media!
This fan wrote, in all caps by the way:
