Shailene Woodley DETAILS Her Arrest & Says She Was Strip-Searched

Although Shailene was one of the most vocal (yet peaceful) protestors of the Dakota Access Pipeline at Standing Rock as she documented the entire protest on Facebook Live. But in record time, she was then taken into custody by law enforcement officers carrying giant guns and batons, who were waiting by her RV when she returned.
She documented everything up until the final moments of the arrest to which she, out of hundreds of other protestors, was the not-so-lucky one taken in handcuffs and thrown in jail.
But if you thought what you just witnessed was already terrifying enough, Shai opened up to Marie Claire UK and revealed exactly what went down behind the scenes, and it ain’t pretty. She started out by saying, “I'm like, ‘This is some Divergent s***’”, and went on to explain that police told her to QUOTE, “get naked, turn over, spread your butt cheeks, bend over. They were looking for drugs in my ass.”
So this isn’t the first time a person convicted has been strip-searched, however, the details coming from someone as innocent as Shailene are straight-up gruesome. She also detailed her time behind bars and how completely helpless she felt, saying, “When you're in a jail cell and they shut that door, you realize no one can save you. If there's a fire and they decide not to open the door, you'll die. You are a caged animal.”
Although Shai has previously opened up about her arrest in an essay she penned, she still to this day attributes her celebrity status on the fact that she was the only person out of many others that day who made headlines. She said, “The day I was detained, 26 others had to dress in orange as well, as they were booked into the Morton County jail. Did you hear about them?”
Point well proven. We’re just glad she’s free and hey, gotta give the girl props for always taking a stand and fighting for what’s right the right way.
