Shawn Mendes & Khalid Give EMOTIONAL "Youth" Performance With Parkland Choir At 2018 BBMAs

Tonight at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards, we were blessed with not one, but TWO Shawn Mendes performances. First, he blew us away with his vulnerable hit, ‘In My Blood.’ During the performance, Shawn sang his heart out, surrounded by glowing flowers, that were actually very similar to the ones in the music video.
This song was written about Shawn’s ongoing struggle with anxiety, which made it all the more emotional, knowing how vulnerable Shawn got when writing this song. But What might’ve been my favorite part about the whole performance, besides how amazingly talented he is, had to be when the camera flashed over to Taylor Swift and Camila Cabello in the audience, who were both dancing along in support of their friend. SO SWEET!
In Shawn’s second performance with the very talented, Khalid, the two performed their new song, “Youth,” which was written in response to the terror attacks that took place in Manchester and London last year. The song itself is already powerful on it’s own, but in this special performance for the BBMAs, Shawn brought choir members from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, a school that endured a shooting just two months prior to Shawn’s song ‘Youth’ dropping.
And in light of recent events that took place at Santa Fe High School just two days ago, I think this kind of song was definitely needed tonight.
