Shawn Mendes just a released a brand new song with Khalid, and the inspiration behind the track will make you love it even more

The next sure-to-be-hit track is inspired by the Manchester Bombing attack.
Shawn Mendes and Khalid have teamed up for a brand new song called ‘Youth’ and it’s finally here! The heartfelt song is inspired by some of the horrific events that have occurred over the past few years that were witnessed and sometimes experienced firsthand by the younger generation… the “youth.”
For Shawn, he was first inspired to create “Youth” as a statement about how the younger generation handles overcoming these types of horrific events, and the entire idea was actually born right around the time a terrorist bomber targeted an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, taking the lives of 22 innocent concert-goers. It wasn’t long after the Manchester attack, when the city of London became international news as another terrible attack that began on London Bridge took the lives of more innocent people.
In an interview with Beats One, Shawn revealed that the collaboration between him and Khalid for ‘Youth’ happened very organically around the time of the bombing
.
He said QUOTE “I was in London and I was very close to all that time, right after the Manchester thing. In London there was the attack on the bridge. And I remember that day thinking like, OK, I gotta text him. When I texted him, I said when we get together, we have to make a statement. We have to move. We have to write about what’s going on in life and how the youth is feeling because I think we have the voice to do that.”
