Shawn Mendes Drops His FIRST Fragrance & It's Unisex

HAVE MERCY ON US – Shawn Mendes has officially cemented his celebrity status by dropping his first-ever unisex fragrance, so ladies, form an orderly line.
Because every A-lister knows that the first rule of making it big in Hollywood is dropping your own fragrance. It’s basically written in the manual.
He’s conquered the music world, so what better way to celebrate Shawn Mendes’ upcoming 19th birthday celebration than by dropping his very own fragrance for men AND women?! The singer takes fans on an exclusive “day in the life” ad campaign for the fragrance shot in preparation for hitting the stage on tour, but just before he appears in front of thousands, Shawn can be seen carrying the fragrance in his back pocket, warming up his flawless vocals. Shawn teased the launch of Shawn Mendes Signature with a series of four campaign videos on Instagram with the help of famed photographer Danny Clinch. Explaining that the process didn’t just happen overnight, Shawn talked about the final product, which was actually loosely inspired by a cream he actually purchased in Brazil. He said, “It was kind of tropical-smelling, but it wasn’t extremely fruity. It had this musky kind of smell to it. Everyone who walked by when I was wearing it really liked it, so I wanted to kind of base my fragrance off of that.”
In the final mix, you’ll likely get nodes of lemon, pineapple and McIntosh apple, a few florals, dulce de leche and skin musk. But perhaps the most important addition, which is near and dear to Shawn and his Toronto roots, is maple. He specifically included the scent to give it a homemade Canadian feel.
Shawn also admitted to creating the scent while on the road, and revealed that it fits in line with the authenticity he strives for when making music. He said QUOTE, “I wanted to make sure that because I was releasing a fragrance it was very representative of me and where I am right now in my career. And you know we were on tour, in the middle of tour, designing the packaging and the scent, and I wanted to make sure that fans kind of felt that.”
So although it may seem like Shawn has his hands completely full nowadays, he has taken to Twitter to state that he has his life and his career under control. Having been touring since April, and going nonstop until December, one fan gave her opinion on artists being overworked, and that Shawn is being sold as a product to which nobody is looking out for his mental health. Shawn was quick to slam that rumor, tweeting back QUOTE, “This is untrue. Nothing like this is happening. I am in control of my career and life and how much i work is entirely up to me. And i love what i do so much, when i need a break i promise ill take one. Love you guys thank you for caring x”
Well thank god for that, but you can’t blame the fans for having his best interests in mind!
