Shawn Mendes Drops Breakup Anthem "Three Empty Words"

Shawn has revealed another new track in promotion of his fourthcoming album titled Illuminate called ‘Three Empty Words’
When listening at first we thought the new jam sounded like a typical love song, but when you really listen you find out the song’s lyrics are about falling OUT of love.
Mendes sings about the feeling of “going through the motions” at the end of a relationship, when you just don’t feel the sparks anymore but you stick around out of habit… Ahhhh, it’s scary when you’re comfortable but not exactly happy.
Reminding us of Jason Maraz’s hit ‘I’m Yours’ Shawn uses a similar sound to create an image of his own… Instead of being mad, he seems as though he’s ready to break free and you know, live his best life with lyrics that include: “We don’t even care enough to fight,” and he sings. “I won’t keep on saying those three empty words."
He spoke out about the song saying that he hopes you could listen to on a long car ride and if you’re looking out the window, kind of forget you’re actually on planet earth for a second.
Shawn, who is currently on tour also met up with one of our favorite stars backstage at his show in Vancouver… Jacob Tremblay, the adorable actor from room AND Jacob posted on Instagram writing “Shawn Mendes just told me he was a big fan of me, but I am a bigger fan of him.”
While the feeling seemed to be the same for Shawn because he posted a different photo writing: “I met the coolest guy in the world today.. @jacobtremblay ! Thank you for coming to hang dude!”
Illuminate comes out September 23 so mark your calendars… Shawn will also preview the new album with a live event at Madison Square Garden on September 10th!
