Katy Perry Pays tribute to Manchester victims, promises to still play Radio 1’s Big Weekend Show along with other artists like Shawn Mendes and Lorde.
Katy Perry and others are proving how they are not willing to let the terrorists win by opting to play a scheduled gig in the UK this weekend.
Katy was in London playing a small show when she paid tribute to the victims of the Manchester attack and addressed her audience with an emotional speech encouraging them to not let the terrorists win.
Katy then lead the crowd in a moment of silence for the victims. In addition to that small gig, Katy is set to play BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend show this weekend, which has a number of huge artists including Shawn Mendes, Lorde, and Nicki Minaj scheduled to play.
And speaking of Shawn Mendes, he also recently paid tribute to the victims of the Manchester attack by playing “One Last Time” before his set.
Like Katy, Shawn revealed that he will definitely still be playing the BBC Radio one show at the weekend alongside Katy Perry. He took to his Instagram to also write a touching note in the aftermath of the attack, which read in part QUOTE, “Concerts are events people should never be afraid to attend, they are places for love and complete happiness and I am so sorry that things took an opposite direction last night. I hope I speak for every artist by saying that we will not stop spreading positivity and love through music no matter the situation.”
Other performers who have opted to still play the gig this weekend include Lorde and Nicki Minaj. When asked about her decision to play the show by TMZ, Nicki said QUOTE, “We don’t operate in fear”. Canceling the shows, she added, would imply that they, meaning the the terrorists, would win. Aaaand that’s why we love her.
Since the UK is still on high alert following the Manchester attack, the venue is planning out ways to increase security for the show.
