Shawn Mendes SLAMMED For World Cup Version of "In My Blood"

Shawn Mendes’ In My Blood is now the official World Cup Anthem for Team Portugal, but not everybody is happy about it
Well, you know how serious people get about their soccer teams

The 2018 FIFA World Cup is upon us, which means that everybody is all in for their home teams, and they definitely DO NOT want their favorite musician’s supporting a rival country because DUH! This is THE WORLD CUP, people.
So when Shawn Mendes dropped a revamped version of his hit, ‘In my Blood,’ as the official World Cup Anthem for Team Portugal, everybody basically lost all chill. The Portuguese were very happy, obviously, especially since this new version features Shawn singing in Portuguese.

Needless to say, the love was flowing from his Portuguese fans on Twitter.
One user wrote QUOTE “Thank you so much @ShawnMendes for giving us this incredible version of "In my blood" suporting Portugal's time in the world cup. I acctually cried listening to it the first time. Even my mom sayd that it was incredibly strong and beautiful I'm so gratefull that i'm Portuguese” ()
But while the Portuguese celebrated their new anthem, fans over in Brazil were less than thrilled. Portuguese is spoken in both Portugal and Brazil, so hearing Shawn sing in Portuguese obviously definitely hits home for both countries, but since the song is meant for Portugal, Shawn’s Brazilian fans took it upon themselves to get creative with Photoshop to transform him into a Brazil fan, and you guys have to admit, it’s pretty funny. Now Shawn can be seen repping both Portuguese and Brazilian colors.. if you use Photoshop, he can support any team you want, really.

But Regardless of who’s side you’re on, if you don’t usually watch soccer, then maybe you can relate to this honest fan who in the midst of the soccer wars online, just spoke her truth after hearing shawn’s Portuguese rendition, writing QUOTE “ I’m suddenly interested in the world cup.”
