Taylor Swift plays the “other woman” in Sugarland’s new “Babe” music video
She looks pretty dang good as a redhead
Country duo Sugarland debuted their music video for the song, “Babe” yesterday, and it is full of drama.
The video takes place in the ‘60s in a Mad Men-like realm. Jennifer Nettles, who sings the song, plays the loving wife of her businessman husband. The husband, played by actor Brandon Routh, isn’t so loving.
While Jennifer stays home cleaning the house and preparing dinner, Brandon heads to work. That’s where things start to get dicey.
Instead of playing the woman scorned, Taylor has turned the tables and channeled her best Joan Holloway. With her red hair and form-fitting dress, the Mad Men influence is clear. And if you’ve seen the show, you probably know what’s going to happen next.
Things aren’t looking too good for Jen. Once Swift makes her way to the husband’s office, you know things are about to go down. His willpower proves to be no match for the fiery red maven’s charms.
Oops. Did you see that look Taylor gave Jen on her way out? Savage. Well, turns out karma gets the best of her, because after Brandon leaves his wife for the seductress, he realizes his mistake and comes running back to Jen.
Looks like Taylor is pissed. But, she kinda deserves it considering she broke up a marriage. And don’t worry—Jen refuses to take her pathetic husband back and is truly living her best life by the end of the video.
The character certainly a different look for Taylor. And, as it turns out, the whole video was her idea. After originally penning the song for her album, Red, Taylor decided to give the song to Sugarland and perform backup vocals. Jen revealed to People that the singer called them up and explained her vision for the accompanying video. They went full-on with the Mad Men concept and even filmed on the actual set of the hit TV show.
So, what do you guys think about Taylor’s new look? Should she switch it up and become a redhead or stay with her iconic blonde?
