Twenty-One Pilots have had an incredible breakout year, and their performance at the AMAs was a perfect “Thank You” to all the loyal fans who got them their.
It was their first year being nominated and performing at the AMAs, and Twenty-One Pilots did NOT disappoint.
Donning their usual black face-masks, lead singer Tyler Joseph and drummer Josh Dun rocked out to “Heathens” and “Stressed Out”, getting the entire audience on their feet and dancing--which is no easy feat at an Awards show. Green strobe lights and fog machines helped give them perfect alt-rock-n-roll atmosphere, and at one point Tyler was inspired to do a super impressive and perfectly timed jump off of a piano…
Really glad he didn’t accidentally land on top of the crowd below because he got some serious air on that jump. But there’s no way those guys would put any of their fans in harm’s way, because after the incredibly genuine and heartfelt speech Tyler gave after he and Josh won for Favorite Duo award, you can tell they appreciate their fans more than anyone…
Not gonna lie--I think I prefer them without the masks.
