Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. That statement rang true across the United States over the weekend when over a million people, women and a solid number of men marched together to stand up for their rights in the wake of Donald Trump becoming President. With the thousands that showed up, odds are that you know someone who attended, but if not surely you know some of the celebs who participated.
A listers like Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Madonna, Zendaya, Chrissy Teigan, Emma Watson, Alicia Keys, and Amy Schumer were all there to peacefully march in the name of girl power and that’s just naming a few! Laverne Cox, Kerry Washington, Chelsea Handler, Yara Shahidi, Tracee Ellis Ross, Vanessa Hudgens, Natalie Portman, Sophia Bush, Ashley Judd, Janelle Monae, Jane Fonda, Nicole Richie, Charlize Theron, Cher, America Ferrera, Chloe Grace Moretz, Bella Thorne, Amber Rose, Jessica Biel, Uzo Aduba, Barabra Streisand, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Debbie Allen all got their march on as well and still that’s not even the half of them! This list honestly goes on and on, so long story short, it was a big deal and an epic display of solidarity. Several of the celebrity attendees gave speeches at the marches including Madonna and Demi Lovato.
Several other celebs offered powerful words of empowerment like Alicia Keys, America Ferrera, Scarlett Johansson, Tracee Ellis Ross, Rowan Blanchard, and Yahara Shihidi.
And to remind us all that the word feminist may include the word female, but you absolutely do not have to be a woman to be one, several men were in attendance as well. The current Bachelor Nick Viall, John Kerry, Michael Moore, Mark Ruffalo, Stephen Colbert, Robert DeNiro, Jake Gylenhaal, and Skylar Astin were just some of the testerone in the house. And if these laundry lists of names alone don’t rock your world, wait until you hear some of the slogans that people wrote on signs and wore on their chests. Gina Rodriguez wore a shirt that said “Torch your bra” and captioned her photo saying – “I walk for ALL THESE HERS. (CAUTION: mean comments will get blasted by my vagina.” John Legend held a sign that said “I stand with Planned Parenthood,” Chloe Grace Moretz’s sign read “Girls just want to have fundamental rights,” Kesha wore a sweatshirt that said “Mr. President, I dare you to grab my pussy” and the star of the hit CW show, Supergirl Melissa Benoist held a sign with my favorite pun of the day that said –“Hey Donald don’t try to grab my pussy, it’s made of steel.”
Several others who couldn’t be in attendance posted their words of support on instagram and all around it was an epic day. Rock on nasty men and women. But I want to hear from you guys. Did you go to any of the marches and who were some of your favorite celebrity attendees? Let me know in the comment section below.
