Last night marked Riverdale’s midseason premiere, and it didn’t cease to leave fans even more confused and anxious for what’s to come.
Besides the fact that the black hood may now not actually be the black hood, last night left us with some of the biggest reveals, and just FYI – SPOILERS AHEAD.
So if you’re still here watching this after all that went down last night, congrats – you’ve officially survived one of the most shocking Riverdale premieres… well, since last season. Last night’s return marked many firsts, many unsolved mysteries that we thought were already solved, and… a newfound darker Archie.
It wouldn’t be a true episode of Riverdale without Archie Andrews inserting himself into some type of danger that could potentially get him killed – this time around, he agrees to being an FBI informant when an investigator asks him to spy on his own girlfriends’ family to see what kind of illegal activity they’re in on.
The most shocking part of it all, though, happened when Archie paid slimeball Nick St. Clair a visit to see how exactly he broke his two legs and whether or not the Lodges were in on it, when he ended up beating Nick up so badly, he left him foaming from the mouth… gotta say, I didn’t know Archie had it in him!
In the beginning of the episode, we were surprised to find Betty’s sister Polly had returned home – only one, or should I say TWO things were missing… the twins. Polly ended up having the babies, named Juniper and Dagwood, and neglected to tell anyone.
Polly’s visit was short-lived as she packed up more of her things, and left before the rest of her family could even see her – anddd something tells me there’s more to that story… Another big moment that shook all of Riverdale happened when the principal of Southside High announced that the school would be closing… you could just feel the Serpent tension as the group made their way to Riverdale High and were forced to become integrated into higher class standards. But as Serpent jackets quickly became banned from school, Jughead wasn’t having it
Archie may be playing his own game of blackmail, but leave it to Cheryl to come through with the ultimate revenge. In an attempt to work together, she reveals to Archie that she saw he and Betty kissing and will be telling Veronica. But in a shocking twist, Archie, himself, drops the truth bomb to Veronica, to which she praises him for being so open and honest with her… ummm WHAT?
Considering Veronica and her parents are up to their own devious plans, the fact that these two are hiding so much from each other will make for quite the intriguing season… But perhaps the most shocking moment from last night’s episode came when we were finally introduced to Alice Cooper’s long-lost son, Chic, who’s been living a few towns over.
To their surprise, Chic doesn’t handle their visit too well, until Betty saves him from being beaten up later on… that’s when things get weird, and he ends up staying the night at the Cooper household, but it was the final scene that caused us never to sleep with the lights off… like, ever again
Looks like Betty might’ve just let in another monster. Many believe Chic to have some sort of involvement with the Black Hood, but it seems like only time will tell. I’ve got no doubt that the coming weeks will bring us deeper into the many mysteries of Riverdale, but right now, I want to know what you guys thought of last night’s episode, so be sure to share all your thoughts and predicitions down here in the comments, and after that, click right over here to get all the scoop on KJ Apa’s secret girlfriend.
