From Gina Rodriguez’s impromptu rap break to show stopping performances by all of our favorite stars, tonight’s Teen Choice Awards was another one for the books… Welcome back to another Trophy life edition of Clevver's Newsfeed.
Tonight’s TCAs were full of standout moments so let’s get started with our top highlights.
5SOS kicked off the evening and got everyone’s blood pumping with their hit single, “She’s Kinda Hot” --- and naturally every teen girl within a 20 mile radius was screaming.
But while we’re talking about true performances it is important that we mention this next impromptu performance that will have people talking for … at least a few days in internet time.
So for clarification, yes, that was Gina Rodriguez rapping Luda’s song “All I Do Is Win” to Ludacris himself. And yes, she did absolutely KILL IT. Ps… never would have thought I’d see Gina Rodriguez, Ludacris, and Josh Peck hosting a show together but somehow it totally works!
But moving on, our next highlight --- actually I don’t know if I’d call this a highlight but well … uhh… sorry Sarah Hyland.
At least she had a good recovery!
Next up we have a much sweeter moment --- naturally Ellen Degeneres won the award for Choice Comedy Star and took a moment to not only empower the audience, as she does, but then she follows it up with this precious moment:
Now for one of our favorite and definitely one of the most fun performances of the evening --- the girls of Little Mix took over the stage to perform their current single Black Magic, complete with a mid-routine music video inspired wardrobe change.
But back to the hosts for a minute --- Nickelodeon legend Josh Peck had a number of hilarious moments throughout the night --- many of which took place with the co-star of his new Fox show “Grandfathered” John Stamos --- but it was this moment in a montage of fan videos that really had us dying…
Now for hands down one of our FAVORITE moments of the evening… as if the cast of Empire aka Jussie Smollett and Yazz performing “You’re So Beautiful” wasn’t amazing enough, it was actually Gabourey Sidibe who stole the show.
Now onto a completely random and unrelated highlight --- yes we are obviously referring to when Victoria Justice presented the award for Choice TV Female to her REAL LIFE DOPPELGANGER Nina Dobrev. Yes, we are aware this isn’t that revolutionary, but it happened and we loved it.
And last but not least, we have to draw attention to the emotional win for the cast of Furious 7 as they held hands on stage to accept the award for Choice Action Movie. Though they kept it together quite well, we’re sure there were a few tears as they shared a moment for their fallen cast mate and family member, Paul Walker.
I’m not crying, I swear.
Annnnnnd with that we conclude our top highlights from tonight’s show --- did your favorite moment make our list?
