Because they will call you out. And it will be the most artistic dig you’ve ever heard, ok? Everything is Love continues to dominate, now that it’s no longer a Tidal exclusive as of this morning, and everybody can treat their Mondays with a major dose of the queen and her king. So, as fans dive deep into Bey and Jay’s new joint album, they’ll quickly notice that these two are ready to bare their souls, and their beef, with fellow artists, other celebs, and you know Jay-Z had something to say about the Grammy’s so let’s break it all down right now.
Starting with the celebs, Beyonce and Jay-Z address some beef with more than a couple famous faces. On ‘Boss’ Jay-Z seemingly calls out Drake who turned down a Tidal contract for an Apple contract, rapping QUOTE “Rather work for the man than work with me.” He also potentially calls out the invoices that Drake sent to GOOD Music after his very public rap battle with Pusha T.
And after tons of talk that things weren’t so great between Jay and his buddy Kanye last year, it’s no surprise that there were a couple mentions of their beef too, even seemingly including a nod to Jay-Z and Beyonce not attending Kim and Kanye’s nuptials. On ‘Friends’ Jay-Z raps ““I ain’t going to nobody nothing when me and my wife beefing,” which at least sounds like it wasn’t personal, unlike the dig at the Jenners, which was definitely personal.
We all remember when Kendall and Kylie got some major heat for releasing a line of t-shirts in their line which featured copyrighted pictures of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G. Jay-Z directly references the t-shirts, rapping QUOTE “it hurts you ain’t never meet ‘em.” Meanwhile, Beyonce just wants all of the haters, in general to know she’s not going down, when she so eloquently sings a giant F YOU to anybody QUOTE “patiently waiting for my demise.”
And we already know that Jay-Z has no shame bringing light to his view of how recognition is given to artists by major organizations, liiiiiike the Grammy’s, and has even turned down performance opportunities at the show. On the track, ‘APESHIT,’ Jay Z raps QUOTE “Tell the Grammys fuck that zero for eight shit / Have you ever seen the crowd goin’ apeshit?” And if the Grammy’s isn’t intimidating, then neither is the Superbowl, cuz Jay-Z called them out too, rapping QUOTE ““I said no to the Super Bowl / You need me, I don’t need you / Every night we in the end zone / Tell the NFL we in stadiums too.” Ouch.
And just because they’re the realest, not even each other were off limits. The final track of the album, ‘Love Happy,’ has Beyonce directly addressing Jay-Z and is there a nod to Becky in there?
Bey sings QUOTE “Yeah, you f--ked up the first time, we had to get remarried," continuing with QUOTE “Lucky I ain't kill you when I met that b—" I wanna say B is for Becky but like could also be bitch? Maybe all of the above?
