Alright, you guys… So, if you’re a fan of Nicki Minaj, you’re most likely aware of the fact that she was planning on releasing her upcoming album Queen on August 10th. Unfortunately, due to one particular track, which samples a Tracy Chapman song, the entire album has to be pushed back to allow time for the sample to be approved.
Nicki first told fans about a possible delay on the album on July 31st, explaining via Twitter that she was thinking about either ditching the song altogether or keeping the track and releasing the album a week later than she originally planned.
We know what you’re thinking: at this point, fans have waited this long for the album, so what’s one more week, right? Well, it appears Nicki felt the same way, which is why she decided to keep the song and push the album’s release date to August 17th. There’s just one problem, though. It’s the same day that her good friend Ariana Grande will be dropping her fourth studio album, Sweetener. Uh oh!
Although Nicki and Ari will undoubtedly be going head-to-head for the top spot on the Billboard Hot 200 chart, they want fans to know that, in real life, it’s all love.
After some fans assumed that sharing a release date meant that there was beef between the two artists, Ariana came to Nicki’s defense on Twitter, explaining that she doesn’t even care about her position on the chart.
She wrote, QUOTE, “jesus is this what’s going on today? Imma just stop logging in at all lmfao. That’s my f***ing sister. She’s clearing a sample. buy and stream queen & sweetener aug 17 bye. these numbers don’t mean as much to the artist as they do to y’all. Just want y’all to listen to the project.”
Nicki also sent out a sweet tweet proving her love for Ari, which said, QUOTE, “I love this woman. Can’t wait for the fans to benefit from all the hard work on both ends. We love your passion. You guys will be VERY happy. Trust. That’s all I’ll say.”
Well, there ya have it, folks! There’s absolutely no beef between Nicki and Ari as far as we can tell, and even though they don’t care about who tops the chart, we’re not gonna lie… we kinda do. So, who do you think is gonna snag that number one spot on the Billboard Hot 200 after the albums drop? Let us know if you think it’s gonna be Nicki or Ari in the comments below, and then click to the right to find out why Ariana is apologizing for her merch.
