2015 AMA Winners Recap - One Direction, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj

One Direction, Nicki Minaj, and Justin Bieber are just a few of the big winners from the AMAs, so, let’s relive the night and find out who else took home a fancy AMA award.
It was a big night for the fans who managed to help their favorite artists win an award or two, but it was an even bigger night for One Direction. Not only did the guys perform an amazing rendition of their song ‘Perfect,’ they also walked away with all of the awards they were nominated for. Harry, Niall, Liam, and Louis took home the biggest award of the night (the Artist of the Year award) for the second year in a row all thanks to their Directioners! Louis couldn’t thank the fans enough during their short acceptance speech:
It’s a little surprising that One Direction won the Artist of the Year award over Taylor Swift, but they couldn’t have won it without the help from their fans. Speaking of Taylor, although she didn’t attend the award show, girlfriend managed to take home three awards out of the six she was nominated for. TSwizzle won the ‘Song of the Year,’ ‘Favorite Pop/Rock Album,’ and ‘Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist’ award. Ariana Grande beat out Taylor for ‘Favorite Pop/Rock Female,’ but something tells me Taylor is just fine with that.
Justin Bieber managed to win the ‘Collaboration of the Year’ award with Skrillex and Diplo for their ‘Where Are U Now’ song while Sam Hunt took home the award for ‘New Artist of the Year.’ Nicki made quite a few appearances on stage at the AMAs. She beat out her male competitors and won both Favorite Album and Artist in the Rap/Hip-Hop category. Of course the rapper thanked her fans for helping her win, but she couldn’t leave the stage before congratulating the other nominee in her category: Fetty Wap. Seriously, it was so nice of her to give him a shoutout, take a look.
And to name a few more winners, Luke Bryan and Carrie Underwood both won in their respective country categories while Fall Out Boy won ‘Favorite Alternative Artist,’ and The Weeknd won Favorite Male and Album in the Soul/R&B category.
