On this devastating day following the attack, Ariana Grande is asking for love.
Tragedy hit Las Vegas Sunday night when a gunman opened fire on a crowd of approximately 22,000 people who were enjoying Jason Aldean’s closing set during the Route 91 Harvest country music festival. As of Monday morning, the police confirmed that the shooter, who has since been identified as 64 year-old Stephen Paddock, has taken the lives of at least 58 people, before taking his own life, in what has now become the largest mass shooting in American history.
Last night’s horrific events have sparked an outcry across the nation with people calling for love, more than ever before, and one of those cries is coming from Ariana Grande.
In a heartfelt post to her Twitter, Ariana Grande shared “My heart is breaking for Las Vegas. We need love, unity, peace, gun control & for people to look at this & call this what it is = terrorism.”
This incident has surely hit home for Ariana Grande who was at the Manchester Arena following her concert when a terrorist detonated a bomb in the lobby of the venue that killed 22 people, and injured over 200 others. Ari’s manager, Scooter Braun, also shared a message on Twitter, echoing Ariana’s cry for love, and also urging people across the world to stand up against hate.
Scooter wrote QUOTE “What took place in Las Vegas last night should never happen What took place in Manchester should never happen. What took place in Charlottesville should never happen. But they are happening. And ALL of them are terrorist attacks.”
And speaking about the terrorists, Scooter continued, saying QUOTE “They all strike fear in our ability to live our lives .They all make us question taking our children, our friends our loved ones to public events that are supposed to bring us joy…in fear of devastation. They are all attacks on our way of life and our way of love. So first let me say my heart breaks for all those affected in Las Vegas. Nothing we do can bring back your loved ones and I am so sorry. For those in the hospital recovering we are with you. Keep fighting. And for all of us..who are we? What will we choose to do in response? Will we just Instagram and move on? Will we think this is about a hashtag with the word #vegas in it? Or will we wait until the next one affects us? THIS One affects us. #LASVEGAS is ALL of us."
Scooter ended his message by recalling a moment in Manchester following the attack there that we need to hear now more than ever, saying “When I was in Manchester I witnessed something defiant. At the end of the One Manchester show…only 2 weeks after the attack and less than 24 hours since the London attack…when the cameras were off…the crowd of 55,000 brave souls started to sing. They echoed the words 'Manchester we're strong, we're strong, we're strong. We'll keep singing our songs, our songs our songs.' This repeated for 15 minutes as they exited. Defiance in the face of fear. Las Vegas we're strong. We're strong. We're strong. We'll keep singing our songs…Together."
While law enforcement begins what is sure to be an incredibly grueling investigation into last night’s act of hatred, we want to send our most deepest, most heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the entire city of Las Vegas, the brave men and women who risked their lives to help those in need last night, and to the family and friends of all the victims; the ones we have lost & those still fighting for their lives in hospital.
