Ariana Grande made her grand return to Manchester two years after putting on the One Love benefit concert, this time for a special Pride celebration, and fans were in heaven.
What’s up guys and happy Monday, it’s Sussan Mourad back here on Clevver News, and if there was a word to describe Ariana Grande as close to “angel on earth” as possible, well, let’s just say she’s that times 50.
Ari made her return to Manchester over the weekend to perform for Pride, more than two years after hosting the One Love benefit concert after a senseless, awful attack. She performed a number of her biggest hits including “No Tears”, “Be Alright”, and “7 Rings.” Ari then took a moment to acknowledge what the LGBTQ community has meant to her throughout her career, as well as giving a shoutout to Manchester specifically.
She told the crowd QUOTE, “I'm so happy to be with you, so thank you for having me. Sorry, I'm so nervous. I had so much more to say but I'm really very overwhelmed. So thank you.”
Scooter Braun was rooting for Ari tweeting: “A lot of emotions tomorrow. Excited to return to the amazing city of Manchester.”
However, some people were actually coming after Ari for performing in Manchester!
YES, really!
She was criticized by Twitter users who accused her of exploiting the LGBTQ community.
One user wrote, “idk …. ariana headlining pride when she’s straight (as far as we’re all aware) ….and doubling the price of tickets ….kinda smells like exploitation of the lgbt community to me…..”
Another person came for our girl tweeting: so imma rant for a bit cause i’m super mad about the manchester pride situation. so if you are unaware manchester pride is starting today (i think) and they have ariana grande headlining who is cishet meaning that most of the people attending will be straight girls who are only-
Ari ended up responding to the harsh remark saying, “I have nothing to do with ticket pricing — manchester pride sets those rates, and they’re mostly out of my control. the lgbtq community has been so special to me and supportive throughout my career.”
All critiques aside, the show was a HUGE hit and I can only imagine such a bittersweet moment for everyone involved. But right now, I’m gonna turn it over to you and let y’all do the talking -- what do you think about Ari’s return, and was the backlash she received before the show too harsh?
