Ariana Grande reportedly cried for days and met with every victim’s family after the attack on her concert in Manchester last year.
And she almost considered never singing her songs again.
In a new interview with the Big Questions podcast, Ari’s manager Scooter Braun opened up about the trauma Ari endured after the Manchester attack, and shared that she didn’t think she could sing her songs ever again.
He explained of her reaction to the terrorist attack QUOTE “When she found out that fans of hers had died she was so sad. She cried for days. She felt everything — every face they announced, every name, she wore on her sleeve. Every bit of emotion because that’s who she is.”
Scooter also revealed that he and Ari both met with 19 injured concert-goers and the families of those who lost their lives in the attack. Scooter called those visits QUOTE, “the hardest two hours of either of our lives.”
He elaborated QUOTE, “It was beyond tough. But every single time we got down we reminded each other we get to go home. Our loved ones are still going to be there. That mother is never coming home, that daughter is never coming home, that son is never coming home, that dad is never coming home.”
Ari told Scooter to start the process of canceling the remainder of her Dangerous Woman tour, but she changed her mind and realized that she instead wanted to pay tribute to the victims so that they wouldn’t QUOTE, “die in vain”.
Scooter explained that the terrorist picked the wrong show to attack, because there was no way at the end of the day that either he or Ari was going to roll over.
The two then put together the One Love Manchester concert to honor the victims, with all proceeds going to the Red Cross’s Manchester Emergency Fund to help victims and families affected by the attack. The show had over 50,000 attendees, and raised $13 million dollars for those impacted by the bombing.
It’s incredible that Ari, with the help of Scooter, made a stand and made sure that those fans did NOT die in vain. That being said, this is all still so heartbreaking to hear, and we can’t imagine what Ari and especially the victims and families have been going through in the aftermath of the tragedy. We continue to send them all our love and prayers, and if you guys feel so inclined feel free to drop a message of support for the victims and Ari in the comments below.
