Our deepest prayers and condolences are going out Ariana Grande and all of her fans at this tragic time…
Multiple police units in the Manchester area responded to reports of two different explosions at around 10:45 p.m. tonight, following Ariana Grande’s concert held at Manchester Arena in England. Video footage showed fans running frantically as the lights were already turned on following the show as fans rushed to the nearest shelter.
Although Ariana and her entire crew have been confirmed safe at this time, police have reported “multiple fatalities”, as well as many local news outlets, who have confirmed upwards of 20 fatalities, and over 50 injured. According to many of the graphic photos released, several victims’ injuries coincide with what seems to be the use of a nail bomb device reportedly used by a suicide bomber, similar to the type of explosives found during the Boston Marathon bombings, and according to TMZ, police are now treating this as a terrorist attack.
So far, no official report has been issued, however the Greater Manchester police department issued a general statement saying QUOTE, “Emergency services are currently responding to reports of an explosion at Manchester Arena. There are a number of confirmed fatalities and others injured. Please AVOID the area as first responders work tirelessly at the scene. Details of a casualty bureau will follow as soon as available.”
Although the tragic events lead to what may be yet another heartless act of terrorism, the city of Manchester proves it is surely a force to be reckoned with as many tweets from local residents have been sent out offering food, shelter and cell phone usage and over 60 children who were unaccompanied or separated by their parent or guardian have also been transported to a nearby Holiday Inn.
Our utmost thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims, their families, Ariana and her team tonight. Remember to hug your loved ones a little extra today as we all continue to pray for peace in this world. At the Clevver headquarters, I’m Joslyn Davis.
