It really doesn’t get much closer than this – just on the heels of announcing a new collaboration, The Chainsmokers and KPOP group BTS joined together at the Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul, Korea, to perform their smash hit single “Closer.”
Unsurprisingly, the entire arena joined in to sing along, as one always does when “Closer” comes on no matter how many times you’ve overheard it, so just for the sake of probably not having heard it in a while, feel free to join in at your leisure:
But there is much more where that came from come three days when BTS’ new album Love Yourself: Her is set to drop, which also features a collab between them and The Chainsmokers called “Best of Me”. No details are spilled about the track, except that it’s produced by the duo and that it features Alex’s vocals.
The Chainsmokers tweeted out a photo of the entire group following the performance, writing, “Amazing night with these boys! Love you guys for coming through and supporting us! And very excited for your Album!” They also teased a “night full of surprises” ahead of the show, and they clearly didn’t disappoint.
But speaking of ‘disappointing fans’, the guys were also forced to do some major damage control after making a racist joke in front of an Asian reporter during their time in China. Alex revealed that if he could, he’d gladly bring his dog Cheddar with him while touring the world, saying, “But I love her, I mean if she could come anywhere I’d bring her – well, I don’t know if I’d bring her to China,” to which Drew Taggart and the interview looked completely mortified.
The group then released a statement on Monday, saying QUOTE, “I made a comment in an interview about being hesitant to bring my dog, Cheddar, to China, because I have read reports about dogs being slaughtered in certain provinces. We originally posted a video to share how much we love China and our fans there. We would never intentionally do anything to upset our fans and we apologize if we offended anyone. Anyone who wants to help prevent the slaughter of dogs, please visit stopyulinforever.com.”
Solid recovery I must say, and at least these two are bringing awareness to a cause that most-definitely should be stopped. But it’s Friday, and I wanna end on a positive note here, so let’s continue the countdown of the release of BTS’s new album and their collab with The Chainsmokers, and be sure to share all your thoughts on their performance of “Closer” down here in the comments. After that, click right over here to see the latest fashion piece Kendall and Kylie were slammed for.
