Camila Cabello is finally spilling all the deets on her upcoming solo album – well, almost all the details.
Ed Sheeran, Pharrell Williams, Ryan Tedder, Charli XCX, what do all of those people have in common? Oh, they all worked with Camila on her solo album.
No official date for Camila’s forthcoming album has been announced just yet, but all the details surrounding the highly anticipated LP is making all of us pretty antsy. In an interview with Beats 1’s Zane Lowe, the songstress got pretty candid about everything. From her songwriting process to the big named collaborators that helped her out on her solo project, there was no topic left untouched when it came to her solo journey.
Camila revealed to Zane that she worked with Charli XCX, Ryan Tedder, Pharrell, and Ed Sheeran. The ‘Crying in the Club’ singer elaborated on the time she worked with all these talented musicians and revealed that Ed actually wrote a song for her. When talking about the ‘Shape of You’ singer, she said QUOTE, “Well, he actually wrote a song for me, which is really really dope. And so then I went in and re-wrote the lyrics to it and basically added some parts to it.”
Andddd in the midst of all the excitement, Camila accidentally revealed that Pharrell is currently working on an album. Whoops.
Solo album details aside, Camila also opened up about the moment she and Fifth Harmony parted ways. When Zane asked the singer when she knew it was time to step away from the group that made her this big star, she said QUOTE, “I think that happened for me as I was discovering my voice as an artist. Especially as a songwriter, I just felt like I needed to express that and that it was just time to sing my story and sing words that were coming from my heart as opposed to singing words that people were writing for us.”
BUT, that’s not to say Camila doesn’t appreciate her time in the girl group at all. Later on in the interview, Camila admitted that when she first auditioned for X-Factor, she knew she wanted to be a singer. However, after being a part of the group, she discovered that songwriting became something she wanted to do more of.
