Camila took home the AMA for Best Pop/Rock song tonight for “Havana”, beating out Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” and Drake’s “God’s Plan”. We’re not exactly sure how or why “God’s Plan” was categorized as a pop or rock song in the first place, but we’re so excited for Camila that we’re just gonna overlook that detail for now.
Camila was super giddy as she accepted her first AMA win, which she dedicated to her fans in the audience as well as those watching at home.
Camila also gave an adorable shout-out to her date for the evening: Her dad, who was beaming with pride as he watched his girl win.
And that’s not the only AMA Camila won! Camila also took home the award for Favorite New Artist, beating out Cardi B, Khalid, Dua Lipa, and the late XXXTentacion.
In addition to winning big, Camila performed a flawless orchestral rendition of “Consequences” during the show.
So now that she’s won her first AMA awards and slayed her performance, what’s Camila gonna do next? Well tomorrow she’s dropping her music video for “Consequences”, co-starring Dylan Sprouse, so I guess her plans are to have the best week ever? She definitely deserves it.
Alright guys now I wanna hear your thoughts on Camila’s first AMA win as a solo artist -- are you surprised “Havana” beat out “Perfect” and “God’s Plan”, or not at all? Let me know in the comments below or hit me up on the social!
