There is a LOT to celebrate in Demi Lovato’s life. For one thing- she dropped her new album ‘Tell Me You Love Me’ today! And it’s all the rage on Twitter. Even Nick Jonas tweeted her some love. But, two, the biggest thing she has to celebrate is that she’s HERE! Alive. As you know, Demetria (as her grandmama calls her) battled her addictions for years. This week she’s been discussing what it was like to hit rock bottom and why she finally got sober. While at the “Jonathan Ross Show” WHICH AIRS THIS Saturday she said QUOTE: 'There were a few (interventions by family and friends) but the final one, everyone was like, "We are no longer going to leave, we are leaving… That was the moment when I thought, ‘OK I really need to get help and get sober."' The former Disney star continued: QUOTE “This time I knew… I had hit rock bottom.” Lovato went on to explain that her parents had gone so far as to ban her from seeing her little sister Madison De La Garza, now 15.QUOTE “I knew that I had a lot of life ahead of me but one of the main reasons of getting sober was so that I could be around my little sister because my mom and dad (said I couldn’t be around her) if I was doing stuff. So I got the help I needed and now I co-own a treatment center.” YES! Talk about taking your power back! Demi also recently admitted that she goes to a therapist twice a week, she stays on her meds, and still goes to AA meetings, because the work is never done. This is a lifelong commitment. Lovato also told PEOPLE Magazine why she wants to be open about her journey. QUOTE “When I went to rehab, my manager said you know, ‘You can either keep this private or you can share this with the world, and hopefully, someone can learn from your struggles.’ And when I heard that I thought, ‘I think it’s more important that people learn from my struggles than to keep it to myself.’” It took getting banned from seeing your little sister to get you to quit drugs. It shows how much she really loves her sister. What do you guys think? And be honest, has Demi’s journey helped you battle an addiction? Please share your stories in the comment section.
