After years and YEARS of nothing, Katy Perry has finally returned from her long musical hiatus and the song she just released could not come at a more perfect time.
Even though Katy was dragged into Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris’ post-breakup mess, the singer clearly had better things to do than to continue to stir the drama-filled pot. Instead of bothering herself with something trivial, Katy decided to release a powerful new song titled ‘Rise,’ late Thursday night.
‘Rise’ is set to be used as an anthem leading up to and throughout the 2016 Rio Olympics, but Katy’s decision to release this specific song NOW was because, well, I’ll let her explain it to you.
The singer continued on with her statement by saying, QUOTE “Now more than ever, there is a need for our world to unite. I know that together we can rise above the fear – in our country, and around the world. I can’t think of a better example than the Olympic athletes as they gather in Rio with their strength and fearlessness, to remind us how we ALL can come together, with the resolve to be the best we can be. I hope this song can inspire us to heal, unite, and rise together. I am honored that the NBC Olympics has chosen to use it as an anthem before and during the Rio Games.”
While a Twitter user pointed out that ‘Rise’ is NOT the lead single for Katy’s next album, but simply a little something to appease her Katy Kats, or as the user said, ‘an amuse bouche (AH-MOOZE BOO-SHH),’ Katy quoted the original tweet and said that it’s ‘yummy to ur tummy tho.’ Indeed it is. I’m sure Katy Cats are excited to hear some of the other tracks Katy has up her sleeves.
