The 2017 American Music Awards kicked off with a highly emotional performance from two of today’s most powerful vocalists in pop music, Kelly Clarkson and P!nk. Singing “Everybody Hurts” by R.E.M, their performance was a tribute to 1st responders who have had to unfortunately work in overdrive this year due to the numerous natural disasters, fires, floods and shootings that have occurred in 2017.
Jamie Fox introduced the performance by standing on stage with some of the brave men and women who put their lives on the line this year and to further pay tribute to the many victims who suffered and or lost their lives.
Naturally, P!nk and Kelly blew the roof of the place and slapped everyone in the face with their performance. Throughout the performance there was a montage of photos from the different disasters over the course of the year which was extremely emotional. At one point the camera panned to the audience and Justin Hartley from This Is Us was crying and he wasn’t the only one. I’m pretty sure there wasn’t a single person watching who didn’t get chills. Can we get an official collab from these two please? Inside sources say that they even got a standing ovation during rehearsal. And the best part about it is that P!nk and Kelly love each other. Following rehearsal P!nk tweeted – “This woman has a direct line to outer space with that voice. I feel lucky to stand next to her when she sings. Tonight will be an honor for me.” While Kelly tweeted – “If anyone was wondering what @Pink is like in person, she’s the greatest human ever and I love her even more now after meeting/singing with her at #AMA’s rehearsal ....can’t wait for y’all to see our silk routine tomorrow #picturemehangin.” Queens.
