Kim Kardashian is once again facing criticism from the internet and this time, it’s for her new batch of feminist Kimojis.
Kim’s damned if she does and damned if she doesn’t.
Receiving backlash is just a part of the KarJenner brand and today, Kim is getting the short end of the stick after releasing feminist themed Kimojis in celebration of International Women’s Day. But seriously, who’s really surprised by all this backlash? Not me.
Anyway, these feminist Kimojis, which include phrases like ‘Nasty Woman,’ ‘My Body, My Choice,’ ‘Grab America Back,’ and ‘Fulltime Feminist,’ didn’t sit too well with some people. And while the new Kimojis were definitely well received by her loving fans, a few others had a thing or two to say about this Kimoji pack.
One user criticized the fact that these Kimojis were available for purchase instead of being given away for free. She wrote QUOTE, “I saw that Kim had “feminist Kimojis” and I thought: ‘that’s cool, she’s giving feminist Kimojis for free.” Then I realized that she expected people to buy them??? If she truly wanted to make a difference, wouldn’t they be free? You have enough money!!”
Another wrote, “Kim Kardashian…only identifying as a feminist when she can literally profit from it.” While this user suggested Kim donate her earnings from the feminist pack by saying, “Kim should donate the money she makes from her feminist kimoji pack to a charity that supports women/women’s rights rather than pocket it. Didn’t she wanna get involved in helping planned parenthood? Now is her chance! Just saying!”
Other Kim Kritics also called out her ‘fulltime feminist’ kimoji and pointed out that Kim revealed in a past blogpost that she decided to not identify or adopt the ‘feminist’ label even though she’ll ‘always fight for women’s rights’ and is ‘all about empowering and uplifting women.’
They tweeted QUOTE, “I love Kim but a few years ago she decided not to identify as a feminist because she was scared of the backlash she would receive and now she has a feminist kimoji pack so I’m curious as to what changed.” Well, time for one has changed.
Maybe Kim is just more confident in herself and feels like she should use her platform to help causes she believes in instead of constantly promoting herself? We obviously can’t speak for Kim, but something tells me if the backlash continues, she’ll have a clapback for all the haters out there.
What do you guys think? Should Kim have received the backlash she’s gotten for these new kimojis or do you think the negativity was undeserved? And, do you think she should disclose what she does with her profits every time she releases products that piggyback off great causes? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below.
