NO WE’RE NOT CRYING, MILEY IS... k fine, we are too.
But she’s crying for a very valid reason – one that we’ve seen photos and videos of all over the news lately, and one that’s affected the people of Texas, their homes and their entire way of life. Thankfully, celebs like Miley Cyrus have put their platform and charity foundations to good use when she appeared on The Ellen Show to announce that she and her Happy Hippie Foundation are donating $500,000 to relief efforts helping those affected by the storm.
Miley then broke down in tears when talking about the hurricane and how badly its affected so many innocent lives, only further proving that this girl has got a heart of pure gold.
Ellen also recently teamed up with Walmart to donate $1M dollars to JJ Watt’s Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, as well as many other celebs. Many of Miley’s former Disney costars, including Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato, have also contributed to relief efforts. Demi took to Twitter just yesterday to announce that she and other celebs including Nick and Joe Jonas have partnered with CrowdRise, an organization that uses crowdfunding to help charities.
Demi, who’s originally from the state of Texas, tweeted that she’ll be donating $50,000 to the Houston Food Bank, and encouraged her followers to help in any way. Nick also tweeted QUOTE, “I've donated already and would love for your help in donating what you can too. Praying for you Houston."
Selena Gomez, who’s also a Texas native, also donated to the Greater Houston Community Foundation’s Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, and took to social media, saying, “So devastated about the crisis in my home state of Texas. Let's all help — donating here in case you can too."
Other celebs including Beyonce, Drake, Zendaya, and the Kardashian-Jenner family have also contributed generous monetary donations to the victims and are continuing to raise awareness for such a tragedy. And I’ve gotta say, although it’s in the wake of a horrific natural disaster, it’s so nice to see the nation come together and to have our faith in humanity restored, so right now, I want to know what you guys thought about Miley’s donation on Ellen, along with any well-wishes and positive thoughts you have for the people of Texas, so get to talking down here in the comments and after that, you can click right here to see all the other celebs who’ve helped contribute.
