NEPALI FOOD you've never seen before! | Traditional Newari food KATHMANDU, Nepal | Nepal food tour

We're in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal to explore the food culture of this vibrant city and region. We start in Patan, one of the Kathmandu Valley's three cities and explore traditional Newari food. The Newar are the indigenous inhabitants of the Kathmandu Valley.

We visit a local restaurant which is said to be one of the best for sampling Newari cuisine and order up a massive feast of buffalo choila, sakuti, woh, potato curry and rice beer. Then it's off to sample yomari, a traditional Newar dessert made of rice flour and stuffed with a sweet dried condensed milk filling. There are only a few spots in Kathmandu where you can sample yomari year round as it is a food that's customarily eaten to mark the end of the harvest. Finally we eat one of Nepal's national dishes- daal bhat- a rice and dal dish that has been elevated by the Thakali community into a thali style feast. 2. Yomari at Nandini Food Court, Swotha Rd, Lalitpur 44600, Nepal. Open daily 11:00am to 8:00pm.

3. Thakali thali (dal bhat thali) at Thakali Bhanchha Ghar, Chaksibari Marg, काठमाडौं 44600, Nepal. Open daily 8:00am to 11:00pm.
