Ruby Rose DELETES Twitter Over Batwoman Casting Criticism

Last week it was announced that Ruby Rose would be playing Batwoman in an upcoming CW series. A lot of fans were super excited, but not everyone was happy with the news.
After the announcement, Ruby faced a ton of backlash from people in the internet. Some claimed she wasn’t actually a lesbian, therefore she shouldn’t be playing a lesbian character. Others were angry that Ruby would be portraying a Jewish character when she’s not Jewish herself. And some people said she just can’t act.
The criticism was pretty ruthless, which is why Ruby decided to delete her Twitter account all together and deactivate her Instagram comments.
Before she left the social media site, she posted a series of tweets that addressed the hate. She wrote QUOTE: “Where on earth did 'Ruby is not a lesbian therefore she can't be batwoman' come from -- has to be the funniest most ridiculous thing I've ever read. I came out at 12? And have for the past 5 years had to deal with 'she's too gay' how do y'all flip it like that? I didn't change. I wish we would all support each other and our journeys. When women and when minorities join forces we are unstoppable... when we tear each other down it's much more hurtful than from any group. But hey/ love a challenge I just wish women and the LGBT community supported each other more, My wish was we were all a little kinder and more supportive of each other...Sending everyone my love and gratitude, it's been a rollercoaster of a year, this month especially. I am looking forward to getting more than 4 hours of sleep and to break from Twitter to focus all my energy on my next 2 projects. If you need me, I'll be on my Bat Phone.”
Despite the backlash, Ruby is still set to play Batwoman in the upcoming DC universe crossover event on the CW, as well as in her very own TV show. Her character will be a Jewish lesbian named Kate Kane, a trained streetfighter who fights crime in Gotham. The CW said they made it a priority to hire a lesbian actress to play the role, so they thought Ruby was the perfect fit.
