Selena Gomez RETURNS To AMAs To Perform For First Time Since 2017!

Though they’re not for a few more weeks, the American Music Awards are shaping up to be every pop fan’s dream come true.
What’s up guys it’s Emile Ennis Jr here with Clevver News and we are slowly but surely getting an idea of who will be performing at the award show later this month.
We learned a few days ago that Taylor Swift will be taking the stage to perform a medley of some of her greatest hits over the past 10 years.
That’s because she was named the “artist of the decade” by the American Music Awards, and will be receiving a special honorary award during the ceremony.
But now we know that one more artist will be performing during the show as well.
And I’m sure Taylor will love to hear who that artist is too, because it’s none other than her good friend Selena Gomez.
Selena is the second performer to be announced for the show, but there will certainly be plenty more in the upcoming weeks.
Some other musicians who are expected to be announced to perform are Ariana Grande, Post Malone, Halsey, and Drake, who was just named the artist of the decade by Billboard.
These are all the artists who are nominated for artist of the year by the American Music Awards, and typically they’re all asked to do a performance for the show.
Taylor Swift won the award last year for artist of the year, and performed her hit from Reputation “I did Something Bad”
Selena, though, isn’t nominated for any awards at this year’s AMAs. That’s because her two new songs came out too late to qualify for any awards this cycle.
And if she really does release a whole album next year, there’s definitely a good chance that she’ll get some nominations.
In the past she has been nominated for two American Music Awards - both in 2016.
She won for “Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist” and was also nominated for “artist of the year”, both in 2016.
But for now, this American Music Awards performance will be Selena’s first television performance in 2 years.
She also performed at the AMAs in 2017 when she performed her new collaboration with Marshmallow - “Wolves”
Selena also performed at the award show in 2014 when she performed “The Heart Wants what it Wants”
And again the following year when she performed “Same Old Love”
This time, Selena will be performing at least one of her new songs for the first time.
It will be the world television premiere of either “Lose You To Love Me” or “Look At Her Now”, whichever she decides to perform.
Or maybe she won’t have to make a decision! Maybe the AMA Gods will do us right and let her perform both songs.
One for each of the past years that she wasn’t able to do a television performance.
She DID come out for a brief moment during DJ Snake’s set this year at Coachella Weekend 1, where she, along with Cardi B and Ozuna performed their hit “Taki Taki”
It was her first, and so far, her only performance of 2019. It was also the first time that she ever performed at Coachella during her decade long career.
Hmm, maybe next year? They haven’t announced the lineup for 2020’s festival yet, and Selena actually would make perfect sense.
Especially since Ariana headlined this year after making a brief appearance during 2018’s festival to perform “No Tears Left to Cry” during Kygo’s set.

And while she was speaking about her time off on Apple Music’s Beats 1’s New Music Daily with Zane Lowe, Selena said “I learned a lot from the last album and I wanted to take what I’ve learned and turn it into something even better,”.
Selena’s last album, “Revival”, came out in October of 2015.
She continued, “I’m glad I did because this year everything kind of just started pouring out of me. I started saying things in a way that I’ve never been able to articulate them before, so it was actually exactly when it needed to happen.”
So it sounds like we’re about to get a whole new era of Selena Gomez unlike anything that we’ve seen before.
And I can only imagine that her performances will be totally new as well. So I’m super excited to see what she can cook up.
