Shawn Mendes Reveals Cause of Raspy Voice In "Nothin' Holding Me Back"

Who knew one song could have so many secrets?! After finding out Shawn’s latest hit, ‘There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back,’ was about a fictional character, the singer decided to drop yet another fun fact about the track and this time, it’s actually about his vocals.
If you haven’t noticed, in the song, there’s a bit of a raspy sound to Shawn’s voice and it wasn’t for the aesthetic. In fact, the rasp was due to Shawn being sick the day he was supposed to record the song.
Shawn went on to explain again that the song was written about a girl in a movie script he was reading for and said it QUOTE “It’d be cooler if it was a real girl.” I meann, it would, but we all still love it either way!
