Taylor Swift has not only cured us by way of hard-hitting lyrics, but she’s about to spread her wealth of knowledge once again as a ‘mega-mentor’ on the upcoming season of The Voice, annnd cue the iconic award show dance moves!
What’s up guys, it’s Emile Ennis Jr. back here on Clevver News, and we might’ve all been using Taylor Swift as our free form of therapy for years now, but you’re gonna have to learn to share, because she’s about to reclaim her mentor title on Season 17 of The Voice, something that she hasn’t done since Season 7.
IDK about you guys, but Taylor Swift on my TV screen every single week is the gift that keeps on giving, and I’m basically all here for it.
OH and you know what else I’m here for… Tay spilling the tea on her LOVER WORLD TOUR!!!
Taylor posted on IG a list of tour dates and captioned it: “For me, te Love album is open fields and sunsets and SUMMER! I want to celebrtae the album and perform it live with you in a way that feels authentic to the music. I want to go to some places I haven’t been and play festivals for the first time in ages… ad where wer didn’t have feestivals, we made some. Introducing, Lover Fest East and West.
I’ll let you let THAT sink in…. All good? Okay, back to The Voice!
News of Tay scoring the special role on NBC’s hit singing competition show came on Monday when the show’s Twitter account posted a short teaser video featuring Voice alumn coaches Blake Shelton and John Legend guessing the identity of the mysterious “big star”.
Hmmm… soooo, a ‘big star’.... ‘one of the most successful people in music’…. Who could that possibly be….
Welp, it’s official! Taylor can once again tack on “Mega-Mentor” to her long list of achievements come a brand new season of The Voice. But although she’ll be joining the rest of the coaches, including Blake, John, Gwen Stefani and Kelly Clarkson this year, she won’t actually be hitting the buzzer in her own Taylor-plated chair.
Tay won’t actually be joining the show until the competition’s Knockout Rounds, likely in late October. She won’t actually be choosing the teams, but she will be given the big task of giving advice and prepping each of the teams before they battle it out each week… hence the term “MEGA.”
So obviously this just gives fans all the more reason to tune into the upcoming season, but if there’s anyone who couldn’t contain their excitement, it’s her fellow southern sweetheart, Kelly Clarkson.
The two, who go way back and have been longtime supporters of each other for years, have actually worked together on past seasons of the show, will officially get to reunite in just a few short weeks. Kelly gushed about Taylor’s mentoring abilities, saying QUOTE, “She cares about the artists — that’s what I loved about working with her the first time. I loved that she actually cared and invested. She cried a couple of times. She was really into it.”
Blake seemed to agree with Kelly, noting how much of a natural Tay was during her first season as a mentor. He opened up a little bit about what fans and viewers can expect this time around, saying, “This season, she brings even more experience to the table. It’s no accident that she’s the biggest star in the world. She’s not only talented, but she’s really smart. So it’s fun to work with.”
Blake’s lady love, Gwen Stefani also agreed, and felt as though she related to Taylor with their songwriting abilities. She said, “I think Taylor’s gift is more her songwriting, and I feel like that’s the same for me so I thought we related to each other a lot. There’s so much to it, and she had so much to offer as far as advice. It’s pretty rare what she has accomplished. She’s just so relatable in the way she writes, especially to girls — and to me.”
So we all know that with mentoring comes added TV time, so I think this is a good time to put some things out into the universe, like, IDK maybe a live performance or two, a collab with Kelly and Gwen of some sort, or even a ‘Lover’ tour announcement…
Yeah, yeah, one can only dream. Thankfully, Season 17 of The Voice premieres next Monday, September 23rd on NBC so set those DVRs now. I’m curious to know what you guys think about Taylor’s big role this season and what you’re most looking forward to seeing, so get to talking down here in the comments.
