On Sunday night Kim released the video footage to her Snapchat of a phone call between Kanye and Taylor where they discussed his song “Famous.” But Taylor claims that she thought the convo was private, writing on Instagram that it was “secretly” being recorded.
A source told People Magazine that the call went down at Kim and Kanye’s home in Los Angeles AND that Kanye did not tell Taylor that he was recording the start of convo.
If this is true, then Kanye just violated California’s “two party consent law.” The Law states that it is a felony to record or eavesdrop on any confidential communication without the consent of all those involved.
Now, back in February, Taylor sent a letter to Kanye’s attorney making it clear that by recording the call without her knowledge, it is a criminal offense. TMZ has a copy of the letter and reported that it threatened Kanye saying quote, “Demand is hereby made that you immediately destroy all such recordings, provide us of assurance that this has been done, and also assurance that these recordings have not been previously disseminated.” Which means proof that it hasn’t been spread around –too late for that now.
However, Kanye’s legal team is ready to go to war. An insider says the rapper did in fact tell Taylor she WAS on tape and that he always records his entire album-creation process for documentation. The source also mentions that all of the verse lyrics were approved by Taylor, even the words, “I made that b*tch famous,” which wasn’t shown in the clips released by Kim.
But I want to know your thoughts on the drama, especially after knowing that Taylor COULD STILL file a lawsuit against Kim and Kanye, right down here in the comments below and be sure to tweet me @MistyKingma.
