Taylor Swift To Receive 'Artist Of The Decade' Award At AMAs!!!

I’m sure this honor of being called THE artist of the decade is beyond anything in Taylor’s Wildest Dreams.The AMA’s announced her win on Twitter, saying “She's won more #AMAs than anyone this decade. She's a five-time 2019 #AMAs nominee. AND she's performing at this year's #AMAs LIVE on Nov. 24. Taylor Swift is our ARTIST OF THE DECADE!Taylor, who already won 24 American Music Awards, as well as 295 awards in total over her long career, has more “artist of the year” wins than anybody else in AMA history.The last time Taylor was nominated for an American Music Award was just last year, in 2018, when Reputation was up for Artist of the Year, Tour of the Year, Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist, and Favorite Pop/Rock Album.
And needless to say she won each of those awards. The American Music Awards will air on November 24th of this year, and Taylor will take the stage to perform a medley of her songs throughout her career.Mark Bracco, executive vice president of programming, said in a statement “We’re thrilled to honor her as our Artist of the Decade and can’t wait for her to blow everyone away with an epic, career-spanning performance unlike any other!”Since the decade started in 2010, Taylor has released five albums - including Speak Now in 2010, Red in 2012, 1989 in 2014, Reputation in 2017, and of course Lover earlier this year. So I really can’t wait to hear what songs she chooses to sing during her performance. But I bet a fan favorite “All Too Well” will be on that setlist. So far, she’s the only person who is confirmed to perform at the show next month.
On top of being named the artist of the decade, Taylor is also nominated for the “Artist of the Year” award this year.
Other artists nominated in the same category are Ariana Grande, Halsey, Drake, and Post Malone.Posty’s new album has generated a lot of buzz recently, but I think he knows he’s got some tough competition. Taylor is up for 5 awards this year total. Besides artist of the year she’s also up for Favorite Pop/Rock Album, Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist, Favorite Music Video for ‘You Need to Calm Down’, and Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist.And on top of all that, she’s also a favorite to win Album of the Year at the Grammys in January.
So it’s safe to say that Taylor is a certified Untouchable SuperStar who has been reincarnated since Reputation. Not to mention, this isn’t the only award show that will be giving out an award for Artist of the Decade. Billboard has announced that they, too, will be giving out an award for the same thing. And Taylor certainly can win it more than once. But for the AMA’s, the Artist of the Decade award was created in the year 2000. It was given to Garth Brooks that year.They also released a poll for people to vote on artists of the decade going back to the 1950s. The winners from the 50s to the 80s were Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, and Michael Jackson.So Taylor will certainly be remembered Forever and Always as one of the greatest musicians of all time.
And interestingly enough, she will receive the award 13 years after her debut album. And swifties like me know that number 13 is The Lucky One for Taylor. Speaking of Michael Jackson, Taylor winning the award for Artist of the Decade makes her tied with Michael for the most music award wins EVER. If she wins one more of the four other nominations she has this year, she’ll officially hold the title of most wins. Given her start as a country artist, I would be remiss to not mention that in April of this year, the Academy of Country Music awarded THEIR artist of the decade award to Jason Aldean.
Which makes sense, considering Taylor switched to pop pretty early into the 2010s. But I’m sure Taylor accepting THIS award will still go down as one of The Best Days of her career. But no matter what people say, Taylor definitely deserves this award. Because at the end of the day, it’s all based off of data. The numbers don’t lie… UNLESS it’s the 2016 US election… ohh did I just say that?!Taylor holds the record of the highest selling album artist of the decade at over 26 million in US sales plus streaming. She also is the artist with the most weeks spent at #1 on Billboard’s Artist 100 Chart with 37 weeks, and the #1 female touring artist of the 2010s with a tour gross of 910 million dollars.
