Zayn didn’t disappoint at all in his first on-camera interview. The former One Direction member talked about his new music and even gave fans a little look inside his personal life.
From songs about breakups to his relationship with Gigi Hadid, there wasn’t really a question that Zayn refused to answer in his sit down interview with Zane Lowe from Beats 1 Radio. So, if you’re ready to absorb some brand new information about this former One Direction member, here are 6 things we learned from Zayn’s first solo interview!
The first thing we learned is that Zayn’s album is pretty much all done and it’s going to be called ‘Mind of Mine.’ There are some personal songs on there, obviously. One of the songs called ‘It’s You’ and is about the breakup of a relationship. Now, Zayn didn’t confirm whether or not the song is about his break-up with Perrie Edwards, but he said the reason why he wrote the song and recorded it was because…
Not only are his songs super personal, but he took a different approach to recording his music. Zayn said didn’t want to be confined in a studio while he was making his new album and recording his tracks, so I’ll let him explain this one to you.
After that, he mentioned that one of the first songs he recorded was ‘BeFour’ and that happened in Vegas. Zayn also revealed that one of the songs on his album was originally written as a rap song, but sadly we won’t be hearing that track as a rap because Zayn took the lyrics and turned it into a song. The singer did admit to Zane that he occasionally dabbles in rapping, but it doesn’t sound like we’ll be hearing Z drop some sick verses any time soon.
Moving on, Zayn talked briefly about touring and from the sounds of it, he’s a little indifferent about touring for now. He said QUOTE “If there’s a demand for it, I’ll tour.” If there’s a demand? Yeah right. There’s a demand right now, what are you talking about?! Watching Zayn perform on a stage by himself is probably a dream come true for all the Zayn girls out there.
Speaking of tours, when Zayn abruptly left the band last year in the middle of their ‘On The Road Again’ tour, he admitted that he didn’t really think about the backlash he was going to get from the press and 1D fans. He told Zane that QUOTE “I didn’t think about any reception, I just did it. I don’t care about what anybody else’s perception is.” I mean, after five years of being a part of something he didn’t really want to be, Zayn just had to get up and do his own thing.
Now, for one of the biggest pieces of information we learned in the interview. His relationship with Gigi Hadid. For a quick second, the singer talked about his personal life, hanging out with friends and briefly mentioned his relationship status. So, is the singer dating Gigi or are they just friends?
