The 2016 People’s Choice Awards are always a fun time and we’ve got a rundown of all the highlights. You’re watching Clevver’s Trophy Life, where we keep you updated on all the moments you won’t want to miss this award show season.
This year’s show brought us some great moments and when I say great, I mostly mean awkward.
You know that music that comes on when someone’s speech is running a little too long? Yeah they tried to play that on the cast of pretty little liars and if you were paying close attention, you saw that Troian Bellisario flipped the bird to the camera.
It happens. And that wasn’t the only time that pesky music created an awkward moment. Vin Diesel was on stage accepting the awards for favorite movie and favorite action movie for Furious 7 and was getting a little emotional because of Paul. And well, he started singing again and this happened:
He may have been cut off, but he went for that high note.
Ellen Degeneres was the recipient of Choice Talk Show host for the billionth year in a row and was honored with the Humanitarian award. And although the intro got a little emotional, leave it to Ellen to bring the funny.
Gotta love her. But the jokes didn’t stop there. When Leslie Mann broke Dakota Johnson’s dress, Dakota took advantage of the ideal moment to make a Fifty Shades of Grey joke. But a nice break from the awkward trend was when Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello took the stage to perform their hit, “I Know What You Did Last Summer.”Young love combined with talent. It makes my heart smile.
And host, Jane Lynch kept the jokes going when she reenacted the now infamous Steve Harvey-Miss Universe mishap.
It still makes me cringe. But the most cringe worthy of the night and definitely the most hilarious was when this random guy bum rushed the stage and gave a shout out without running into any security. How does that happen? First of all, that took some major guts, but how the heck does someone even get that close to the stage? let alone to the mic? That was crazy. He’s low key my hero though.
